Union Home Minister Amit Shah has once again emphasized the transformative journey India has embarked on under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, declaring that by the year 2047 — when the country celebrates 100 years of independence — India will emerge as the top-ranking nation in every field. Speaking at a public event, Shah laid out the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India), outlining the roadmap that the Modi government is following to elevate the nation across sectors like economy, security, infrastructure, technology, and global diplomacy.
Shah’s comments come at a time when India is asserting itself more confidently on the world stage — from space exploration to economic reform and from international diplomacy to defense modernization. He credited the Modi government for changing the perception of India globally and shifting the nation from a state of indecision to one of determination and delivery.
“By 2047, India will not only be self-reliant but also a global leader — whether it’s defense, education, manufacturing, innovation, or international diplomacy. PM Modi has laid the foundation, and now we are building on it brick by brick,” Shah said during his address.
Transformation Across Sectors
Amit Shah highlighted several milestones that he said exemplify the shift in India’s trajectory. In the field of technology, India has emerged as a global hub for digital infrastructure, fintech, and artificial intelligence. Initiatives like Digital India and the rapid expansion of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) have revolutionized how Indians transact and engage with the economy.
On the economic front, Shah noted that India has moved from the “Fragile Five” to being the fifth-largest economy in the world and is on track to enter the top three. “Ten years ago, India was seen as a struggling economy, plagued with policy paralysis. Today, it is among the fastest-growing economies in the world. This did not happen by accident — it is a result of stable leadership and bold reforms,” Shah asserted.
In terms of national security, the Home Minister pointed to strengthened border control, decisive action against terrorism, and modernization of armed forces as signs of a more secure India. He cited the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir as a turning point that has brought peace and development to the region.
Education, Healthcare, and Social Equity
Shah also spoke about major reforms in education and healthcare, which he said are preparing India’s youth for the challenges of the 21st century. The implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) is one such effort aimed at fostering innovation and research from the grassroots level. Meanwhile, schemes like Ayushman Bharat are improving access to affordable healthcare for millions.
Social equity and inclusive development were also focal points in Shah’s address. He emphasized how schemes like PM Awas Yojana (housing), Jal Jeevan Mission (drinking water), and Ujjwala Yojana (clean cooking fuel) have uplifted millions from poverty and brought dignity to people’s lives.
Vision 2047: Viksit Bharat
Shah’s speech aligned closely with the Modi government’s larger plan for “Vision 2047” — a strategic blueprint that seeks to make India a developed nation by its centenary year of independence. According to Shah, this vision is not a political slogan but a “collective mission” that involves all sectors of society.
“Every Indian should dream big. This is the century of India — and by 2047, the world will look to India not just for growth but for guidance,” he declared.
He also stressed the importance of good governance, transparency, and corruption-free administration in achieving these goals, praising PM Modi’s track record in delivering welfare schemes directly to beneficiaries through digital platforms, thereby eliminating middlemen and leakages.
The Road Ahead
As the 2024 general elections approach, Shah’s remarks serve not only as a policy vision but also as a rallying cry to voters. With a decade of Modi’s leadership behind them, BJP leaders are now turning their attention to the next chapter — one that they claim will cement India’s place at the top of the global order.
Whether or not that vision materializes in its entirety, the ambition is clear: to shape a new India by 2047 — strong, self-reliant, and respected on the world stage.
