A court in Jharkhand’s Chaibasa has sentenced a couple to life imprisonment for the murder of a man and concealing his body four years ago. The Principal District and Session judge pronounced the judgment on Banu Minz and his wife Shanti and also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on them.
According to the FIR, Shanti Minz hit Ramesh Tirkey on the head with a log when he tried to outrage her modesty in Rundhikocha village in Anandpur area in West Singhbhum district on February 22, 2018. Tirkey died on the spot, and when Banu Minz returned home, he found the body on the floor. The duo then dumped the body in a mine and left for Surat in Gujarat two days later. The duo was subsequently arrested and sent to judicial custody, and the body was later recovered.
The case highlights the seriousness of crimes against women in the country and the need for justice to be served. It is commendable that the court has delivered a just sentence, and it is hoped that such incidents will be prevented in the future.
The incident also raises concerns about the safety of women in rural areas and the need for stricter laws to protect them. The government must take measures to ensure the safety and security of women in remote areas and provide them with access to justice.
It is essential to understand that violence against women is a significant issue in India, and it requires a collective effort to combat it. The government must take steps to raise awareness about women’s rights and the legal provisions available to them. It must also work towards building a robust justice system that ensures speedy trials and severe punishment for those who commit crimes against women.
In conclusion, the life sentence given to the couple for murder and concealing the body is a welcome move towards ensuring justice for the victim. However, the government must take further steps to ensure the safety and security of women in the country and prevent such incidents from happening again.
