Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor (LG) V K Saxena has denied allegations made by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh that he spent Rs 15 crore on renovating Raj Niwas, his official residence. Saxena stated that his house is open for individuals to come and see for themselves.

Singh had claimed that the LG spent the whopping amount on repair work alone at his official residence, which is built on six acres of land. He compared this to the Delhi Chief Minister’s new house, which was built on only one acre of land.

Saxena refuted these allegations during an inspection of the Yamuna Rejuvenation Project’s phase 1, which stretches from the Signature Bridge to ITO Barrage. The project is currently under the monitoring of a high-level committee.

The allegations made by AAP MP Sanjay Singh are serious, and if true, would raise questions about the allocation of public funds. However, without evidence, it is difficult to assess the veracity of the claims made.

This is not the first time that the LG and AAP have clashed. Delhi’s governance model has been a topic of debate since the AAP government came to power in 2015. The LG and the Delhi government have had several disputes over issues ranging from administrative power to appointments of officials.

The relationship between the LG and the Delhi government is based on a unique power-sharing agreement. The LG is appointed by the Central Government and has certain powers that he can exercise over the Delhi government. The AAP government has often accused the LG of being a roadblock to their policy decisions.

In conclusion, while the allegations made by Sanjay Singh are serious, it is important to wait for concrete evidence before drawing any conclusions. The LG’s statement that his residence is open to the public is a welcome move towards transparency. However, it remains to be seen how the relationship between the LG and the Delhi government will evolve in the coming years.
