The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has recently made a significant decision, rejecting the bail plea of Nikhat Bano, the wife of SBSP MLA Abbas Ansari. Bano was arrested for her alleged involvement in an unlawful meeting with her husband in jail. The court, presided over by Justice Subhash Vidyarthi, cited the seriousness of the allegations and Bano’s apparent role in the matter as the reasons behind its decision.

The incident in question took place in February when the Chitrakoot district jail was raided by the police and district administration following information about an unauthorized meeting between Ansari and his wife, as well as his driver Niyaz. The discovery of several mobile phones, foreign currency, and other materials in Bano’s possession led to her subsequent arrest, along with Niyaz.

Bano is now facing multiple charges, including threatening witnesses, facilitating her husband’s activities within the jail, bribing jail officials and staff, and offering gifts to them. Another individual, Faraz Khan, who assisted Bano in obtaining a house near the Chitrakoot jail and arranging the meeting with Abbas, has also been arrested.

The police have not only arrested Bano and Khan but have also apprehended several jail officials, including jail warder Jagmohan, jailor Santosh Kumar, jail superintendent Ashok Kumar Sagar, and deputy jailor Chandrakala, in connection with the case. A chargesheet has been filed against Ansari, Bano, Niyaz, Khan, and Navneet Sachan.

The case was registered on February 11 at the Karvi police station, based on a complaint lodged by sub-inspector Shyam Dev Singh. It is noteworthy that Abbas Ansari, the SBSP MLA from Mau and the son of incarcerated gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, is already in prison for a separate money laundering case.

With the Allahabad High Court’s decision to reject Nikhat Bano’s bail plea, the legal proceedings will continue, and she will remain in custody. This development underscores the gravity of the alleged offenses and the court’s determination to ensure a fair and impartial trial. As the case unfolds, it will be closely monitored to ascertain the truth and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
