Indian Archers Shine in Asia Cup Stage 2, Reach Finals in All Four Team Events

Indian archers put up an impressive performance by reaching the finals of all four team events in the recurve and compound sections in the Asia Cup Stage 2 World Ranking Tournament held in Tashkent.

The Indian men’s recurve team, consisting of Mrinal Chauhan, Tushar Shelke, and Jayanta Talukdar, emerged victorious in the semifinal against the hosts, Uzbekistan’s Chen Yao Yuy, Mirjalol Karorov, and Amirkhan Sadikov, with a score of 6-0. They will now take on their rivals from China in the gold medal clash on Friday. The men’s recurve team had started off their campaign with a 6-0 win against Kyrgyzstan.

The Indian women’s recurve team, comprising of Sangeeta, Prachi Singh, and Tanisha Verma, won a nail-biting tiebreaker finish against Uzbekistan to emerge as 5-4 winners. In the semifinal, they defeated Saudi Arabia 6-0 to book their spot in the final against China.

The top-seeded compound men’s team of Abhishek Verma, Kushal Dalal, and Amit got the better of Saudi Arabia in the semifinal with a score of 236-221 and will now take on Hong Kong in the gold medal clash on Friday. The compound women’s team of Parneet Kaur, Pragati, and Raginee Markoo had already secured their spot in the final after topping the qualification round and will also face Hong Kong in the gold medal clash.

Despite the absence of heavyweights Korea, India has sent their second-string side for the continental showpiece. However, the performance of the Indian archers has been remarkable, and they have proved their mettle against tough opponents.
