In a stunning display of skill and synchronization, the Indian archery pair of Jyothi Surekha Vennam and her debutant partner Ojas Deotale have advanced to the finals of the Archery World Cup Stage 1. With three consecutive victories, the duo has showcased impeccable chemistry, securing India’s second medal in the tournament.

Their journey to the finals was marked by dominant performances and unwavering precision. In their opening matches, Jyothi and Ojas effortlessly overpowered their opponents from Luxembourg and France, dropping a mere one point throughout both rounds. Their flawless shooting resulted in an impressive score of 159 out of a possible 160, while Luxembourg managed 157 points and France settled for 156.

The semifinal clash against Malaysia’s Fatin Nurfatehah Mat Salleh and Mohd Juwaidi Mazuki proved to be a more challenging test for the Indian duo. The Malaysians fought back, leveling the score in the first two ends. However, Jyothi and Ojas remained composed under pressure. In the third end, the Malaysian team faltered, allowing the Indians to secure a two-point lead. With consistent performance, Jyothi and Ojas sealed their victory with another 39 points in the final end.

Their remarkable journey sets up an exciting gold medal clash against the 12th seed, Chinese Taipei, scheduled for Saturday. The Indian archery pair’s extraordinary chemistry, coupled with their impressive form, makes them strong contenders for the top honor.

Meanwhile, in the recurve mixed pair section, there was disappointment for India as the 11th seeded duo of Atanu Das and debutant Bhajan Kaur faced an early elimination. Despite initially taking a 2-0 lead, they were unable to maintain their advantage and eventually lost to a lower-seeded Danish pair. Their inexperience became evident as they struggled with accuracy, resulting in a two-point loss in the deciding fourth set.

While the disappointment lingers in the recurve mixed pair category, India remains hopeful of securing a third medal in the women’s compound individual section. Former World Championship silver medalist Jyothi Surekha Vennam has advanced to the semi-finals, demonstrating her exceptional archery skills and determination.

The outstanding performances of Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Ojas Deotale have not only brought accolades to India but also highlighted the depth of talent in Indian archery. As the duo prepares to compete for the gold medal, their flawless shooting and perfect chemistry serve as a testament to their immense potential and promise a thrilling finale in the Archery World Cup Stage 1.
