MUMBAI: Comparing Sharad Pawar with “banyan tree”, Shiv Sena (UBT) on Monday said in an editorial in its mouthpiece Saamna that though the veteran politician formed, ran and sustained a party,, a leadership that can take it forward after him could not be creates in NCP.
The Shiv Sena’s youth wing, Yuva Sena, on Monday published an editorial in Saamna, the party’s Marathi language newspaper, in which they compared Sharad Pawar to a banyan tree. The editorial praised Pawar’s ability to create and sustain the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) for several years but criticized him for failing to groom a capable successor who could lead the party after him.
The editorial noted that while Pawar’s political career spanned several decades, his party had not been able to develop a leadership that could effectively carry on his legacy. The editorial went on to state that the lack of a clear succession plan could lead to the NCP’s downfall, citing examples of other political parties that faced similar issues.
The editorial also mentioned that while Pawar was an astute politician, his leadership style was often autocratic, which may have contributed to the lack of a clear succession plan. The editorial urged Pawar to take steps to address this issue and groom younger leaders who could take over the reins of the party in the future.
It is worth noting that the Shiv Sena and the NCP are political rivals in Maharashtra, and the editorial may be seen as a political dig aimed at weakening the NCP’s position. However, the issue of succession planning is an important one for any political party, and it remains to be seen how the NCP will respond to these criticisms.
