In a renewed push to transform agriculture in Tripura, Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath today emphasized that the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan aims to empower farmers with modern technology and ensure better awareness of both state and central government schemes that are designed for their welfare.

Speaking at a district-level event organized in West Tripura, Nath said the campaign was not just about outreach but about driving a mindset shift among farmers to adopt sustainable, tech-driven practices.

Bridging Gaps in Agricultural Knowledge

Minister Nath pointed out that despite several welfare schemes available to farmers, lack of awareness and access to technology remain the biggest hurdles. The Abhiyan, launched nationwide in 2024, aims to close these gaps.

“Tripura’s farmers are hardworking. But many remain unaware of government schemes that could improve productivity and income. Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan will change that,” said Nath.

As part of the initiative, agriculture officers, scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), and extension workers are visiting remote villages to demonstrate new techniques, such as precision farming, organic pest control, and use of weather-based advisories.

Focus on Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Farming

The campaign also promotes the adoption of climate-smart agriculture. Tripura has witnessed erratic rainfall and rising temperatures in recent years, which have impacted crop yields.

Experts involved in the campaign are training farmers on water-use efficiency, soil testing, and crop diversification to adapt to climate uncertainties.

Minister Nath added, “The government is committed to building resilience among farmers. The goal is not just higher yield, but sustainable productivity.”

Direct Benefits from Government Schemes

Under the Abhiyan, farmers are being informed about several flagship schemes, including:

  • PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, which provides ₹6,000 annually to eligible farmers.
  • PMFBY (Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana) for crop insurance.
  • Soil Health Card Scheme for better input management.
  • Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) to facilitate low-interest loans.

Over 12,000 farmers across districts in Tripura have participated in awareness drives and training sessions under the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan since its local launch.

Use of Digital Tools and Drones

Highlighting the use of innovation, Minister Nath said that drones and remote sensing tools are now being piloted in selected blocks to demonstrate how real-time data can improve decisions related to sowing, irrigation, and fertilizer use.

The state government has partnered with Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and local KVKs to ensure technical expertise reaches the grassroots.

Support from Panchayats and Local Bodies

The campaign is also actively engaging panchayat leaders, self-help groups, and youth volunteers to act as intermediaries between farmers and government departments.

Nath stressed the need for collective participation. “Only when farmers, officials, and local leaders work together can we achieve our agricultural goals.”

Call to Action for Farmers

Minister Nath urged all farmers to take full advantage of the Abhiyan. He encouraged them to register for training programs, attend demo sessions, and apply for relevant government benefits.

“Empowered farmers mean a stronger Tripura. Let us move forward together toward Viksit Bharat 2047,” he concluded.

The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan in Tripura is not merely a policy initiative—it’s a transformative movement to reshape farming practices and uplift rural lives through awareness, innovation, and inclusion.
