Renowned Indian writer-director Anees Bazmee recently graced the IIFA Rocks ceremony and took the opportunity to shed light on his upcoming projects, including the much-anticipated follow-up to the blockbuster film “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.” During his interaction with the media, Bazmee opened up about the most challenging aspect of filmmaking: the writing process.

Describing writing as a “difficult, problematic, and frustrating” task, Bazmee emphasized the solitary nature of this creative endeavor. “It is a very lonely job,” he expressed. Elaborating on the challenges faced, he specifically highlighted the creation of a character like Manjulika, who embodies both scariness and beauty in equal parts. Bazmee emphasized that crafting such a character on paper is an arduous undertaking.

However, the director also recognized the significance of the writing process in providing direction to the entire filmmaking team. He explained that once the writing is completed, it becomes easier for everyone involved, including the actors, directors, cinematographers, and music directors, to understand their respective roles and execute them effectively.

When asked about the possibility of collaborating with acclaimed actor Tabu once again for the third installment of the “Bhool Bhulaiyaa” franchise, Bazmee revealed that the decision would be made after completing the script. He praised Tabu for her exceptional portrayal in “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2,” stating that nobody else could have matched her performance. Bazmee expressed his desire to work with Tabu once more, as she is not only a brilliant actor but also a close friend.

The IIFA Awards and Weekend, held in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Miral, Abu Dhabi’s leading curator of immersive destinations and experiences, provided the platform for Bazmee to share his insights. The event saw the presence of numerous stars, including Vicky Kaushal, Kriti Sanon, and Varun Dhawan, who walked the green carpet. The awards concluded on May 27, 2023.

In conclusion, Anees Bazmee’s appearance at the IIFA Rocks ceremony offered a glimpse into the challenges and excitement he faces as a writer-director. With the highly anticipated “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2” follow-up on the horizon, Bazmee’s emphasis on the crucial role of the writing process sets the stage for another thrilling installment in the franchise.
