April 30, 2023 marks the third death anniversary of Bollywood icon Rishi Kapoor. The actor, who was known for his charismatic on-screen presence and endearing personality, passed away at the age of 67 after a two-year battle with leukaemia.

Rishi Kapoor began his acting career in 1973 with the film “Bobby” and went on to star in numerous hit films throughout the decades, including “Chandni,” “Henna,” and “Kapoor & Sons.” He was one of the few actors who could maintain his image as a romantic hero for decades and worked with female stars from across generations.

Despite his success as a leading man, Rishi Kapoor was more content with his second innings as a character actor, which included critically acclaimed performances in films such as “Do Dooni Chaar,” “Agneepath,” “Mulk,” and “102 Not Out.” The latter film marked the reunion of Rishi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan on the big screen after 27 years.

In the years since his passing, Rishi Kapoor has been fondly remembered by his family, friends, and colleagues in the film industry. His son, Ranbir Kapoor, has spoken about the void left by his father’s passing, but also how it brought the family closer and helped him understand the value of loved ones and priorities.

Actors who worked with Rishi Kapoor, such as Jackie Shroff and Manisha Koirala, have praised his talent, charm, and spontaneity on set. Directors like Umesh Shukla have lauded his natural acting ability and professionalism.

As the Hindi film industry remembers Rishi Kapoor on this day, his contributions to Indian cinema and his enduring legacy as a beloved actor and personality continue to live on.
