Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has taken a firm stand on illegal infiltration, warning that anyone involved in illegal entry into Tripura will face legal consequences. His remarks follow a noticeable increase in unlawful border crossings from neighboring Bangladesh.

Tripura shares an 856-kilometer international border with Bangladesh. Due to this extensive boundary, the state has become vulnerable to illegal immigration. Consequently, the state government has intensified its efforts to maintain law and order.

The Chief Minister assured that security forces will act promptly. He emphasized that the law will not spare anyone attempting to breach the state’s territorial integrity.

State Government Strengthens Action Against Illegal Entry into Tripura

During a press interaction, CM Saha stated that all agencies have received strict instructions to prevent illegal entry into Tripura. The state police, Border Security Force (BSF), and intelligence wings have joined hands to identify and intercept infiltrators.

“We will not allow Tripura to turn into a transit corridor for illegal migrants,” Saha stated firmly. He also added that the administration will continue using legal methods to punish offenders. Notably, he made it clear that no leniency will be shown.

To improve security, the government has deployed more personnel and added surveillance tools along sensitive zones. These steps aim to detect movements swiftly and reduce the chances of infiltration.

Border Vigilance Ramped Up with Community Involvement

In addition to governmental efforts, the state has encouraged local communities to participate in safeguarding their regions. Residents living in border-adjacent areas have been advised to report any suspicious movements or unfamiliar individuals.

According to a senior BSF official, the use of modern tools like night-vision cameras and drones has begun across select border points. These tools support ground teams in monitoring and capturing intruders before they reach inland areas.

Moreover, the administration has conducted awareness drives to educate villagers about the legal implications of supporting illegal undocumented people. This community-centered approach is proving helpful in reducing instances of illegal entry into Tripura.

CM Saha’s strong position on the issue has received support from several political quarters. Leaders have acknowledged that national security must remain a top priority. However, some opposition figures have advised the government to ensure human rights are respected while enforcing laws.

Responding to this, CM Saha stated that all enforcement will follow due process. The state will differentiate between illegal entry and legitimate asylum cases. According to him, the legal framework provides sufficient protection for genuine cases while allowing the state to act decisively against violators.

He added that strict but fair enforcement will help maintain peace and stability in the region. Therefore, no one should fear misuse of power, as checks and balances will remain in place.

Long-Term Steps to Prevent Illegal Entry into Tripura

Looking forward, the Tripura government is considering long-term strategies to stop illegal entry into Tripura. These include tighter fencing, improved identification checks, and better infrastructure in rural border areas.

CM Saha also plans to work closely with the Union Home Ministry to strengthen national policies on border security. He believes that a unified approach will help prevent future breaches.

Additionally, the state wants to create more job opportunities for people in border regions. By improving local livelihoods, the government hopes to reduce economic pressures that sometimes encourage illegal activities.

The warning from CM Manik Saha sends a clear message: Tripura will not tolerate unauthorized entry. Through coordinated efforts, modern surveillance, and strict legal measures, the state aims to stop illegal entry into Tripura effectively. With both government action and public support, Tripura is determined to secure its borders and uphold the law.
