Kajol and Rani Mukerji attended an award show in Mumbai on Sunday, where the duo shared a funny anecdote from the sets of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Karan Johar started his career as a director with this film. During this, Kajol while leaving Rani said that earlier in the song ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, Rani’s dress was not so short.
Captured in content creator Ankush Bahuguna’s Instagram story, a short clip from the event featured both Rani and Kajol on stage at the Hello! Hall of Fame Award. In the clip, Kajol said that she had an ‘eternal question’ for Rani about her dress in the song Koi Mil Gaya from the film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which was how she danced in such a short dress.
Rani Mukherjee gave this answer
Kajol asked Rani on stage, “I think that’s the question I really ask myself till today – how did you dance in that dress. When I saw you on stage, How can you dance like that. But how did you manage? I always wanted to ask you this question.”

Responding to Kajol’s question, Rani shared the story of her Koi Mil Gaya dress and said, “To be honest, I don’t know how it all flowed. I said ‘jay maa dugga’ and just went ahead.” Because I think I was only 19 years old and I had never really worn such a short skirt in my life till then. So, when Karan (Johar) and Manish (Malhotra) gave me the dress, It was a gown.
How to make gown dress
Rani said that it kept getting smaller and smaller till it reached the gown set. When the dress was taken to the cameraman, the cameraman looked at the dress and said ‘Oh this outfit is of baby Sana (Sana Saeed, who played Shah Rukh’s daughter). So young?’ So he said no, it’s the Rani’s outfit!”
