The Centre has approved a fresh round of senior bureaucratic appointments, with the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) clearing 19 Joint Secretary and Joint Secretary-equivalent appointments across several ministries and departments. Among the prominent appointments, Sudhir Shyam (Indian Economic Service) has been named Joint Secretary in the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), while M. Imkongla Jamir (IAS) has been appointed Joint Secretary in the Department of Consumer Affairs.
The Department of Financial Services has received two new Joint Secretaries, with Divesh Sehara (IAS) and Saurabh Kumar (IAS) taking charge of separate positions. Abhijit Phukon (IES) has been appointed Joint Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, while Anish Kumar (IRSE) has been posted to the Department of Atomic Energy. Kumar Ravi Kant Singh (IAS) will serve as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Avanish Kumar Mishra has been appointed Joint Secretary in the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Gunjan Krishna has been posted to the Department of Fisheries, Pravin Laxminarayan Agrawal joins the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, and Sajeesh Kumar N has been appointed Joint Secretary in the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment.
The appointments are intended to strengthen policy implementation and administrative coordination in these departments.

In addition to Joint Secretary appointments, the ACC has approved several Joint Secretary-equivalent postings.
Satish Kumar has been appointed Coal Controller under the Ministry of Coal, Kartikaye Mathur joins the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) as Adviser, Neha Verma has been named Principal Commissioner of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), and Sumit Garg has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA).
These appointments are expected to enhance administrative capacity in key government institutions.
Part of a Wider Bureaucratic Overhaul
The latest appointments follow a broader bureaucratic reshuffle announced earlier this week, during which the Centre reassigned several secretary-level officers.
Among the notable changes, Naresh Pal Gangwar was appointed Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, while Vineet Joshi was transferred to the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. The secretary-level reshuffle also affected several other ministries as the government moved to fill upcoming vacancies and ensure continuity in governance.
DoPT Issues Appointment Orders
The Department of Personnel and Training issued the official notification detailing the appointments approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
Most of the officers have been appointed for fixed tenures, generally extending up to five years or until further orders, depending on service rules and the specific post. The appointments involve officers from the IAS as well as various Central Services, including the Indian Economic Service, Indian Railway Service, and Indian Statistical Service.
