Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan is looking to expand his party’s presence in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. The party is considering contesting the polls on its own.

The move could mark a fresh expansion effort for the LJP beyond its traditional base in Bihar. Party leaders have indicated that Uttar Pradesh is becoming an important focus for the organisation.

LJP Plans Expansion in Uttar Pradesh

The LJP is working to strengthen its organisational network across Uttar Pradesh. The party plans to increase its presence at the grassroots level before the Assembly elections.

Party workers are expected to focus on membership drives and outreach programmes. The leadership also wants to identify areas where the party can build a support base.

The expansion comes as political parties prepare for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Party May Contest Elections Alone

The LJP is considering fielding candidates independently in Uttar Pradesh. A final decision on the number of seats and constituencies will depend on the party’s organisational strength.

A solo contest would allow the party to build its own political identity in the state. It would also give the leadership greater freedom to select candidates and campaign on issues specific to Uttar Pradesh.

However, the party has not ruled out political discussions with other parties.

Chirag Paswan Focuses on Organisational Growth

Chirag Paswan has been working to expand the LJP’s political footprint beyond Bihar. The party has also increased its activities in other states where it sees opportunities to build an organisation.

Uttar Pradesh is particularly important because of its large electorate and diverse social composition.

The party’s strategy will depend on building a local leadership structure rather than relying only on its national leadership.

Dalit and Youth Outreach

The LJP has traditionally focused on Dalit representation and social justice issues. In Uttar Pradesh, the party is expected to use these themes while reaching out to voters.

Youth outreach could also form an important part of the expansion strategy. Employment, education, entrepreneurship and opportunities for young people are likely to feature in the party’s campaign.

The LJP will need to establish a stronger local presence to translate these issues into electoral support.

2027 Polls Could Test LJP’s Strategy

The Uttar Pradesh Assembly election is still some distance away, giving parties time to build their organisations.

For the LJP, the period will be important for assessing its support base and identifying constituencies where it can compete effectively.

A solo contest could provide the party with an opportunity to measure its independent strength. It could also present organisational challenges in a state with a large number of established political players.

LJP Looks Beyond Bihar

The Uttar Pradesh plan reflects Chirag Paswan’s broader effort to expand the LJP’s national footprint. The party has traditionally been associated with Bihar politics.

A sustained presence in Uttar Pradesh could help the party establish itself as a wider political organisation.

For now, the focus remains on strengthening the party structure and preparing for the 2027 Assembly elections. Whether the LJP ultimately contests alone or enters an alliance will depend on its final strategy closer to the polls.
