Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman reviewed the progress of Tata Group’s ambitious Assam semiconductor project worth Rs 27,000 crore during her visit to Guwahati. The project is one of India’s largest private sector investments in the Northeast, aimed at transforming the region into a hub for high-end electronics manufacturing.
During the review meeting, Sitharaman discussed the project’s implementation timeline, infrastructure readiness, and state-level coordination. She appreciated the Assam government’s support and underlined the Centre’s commitment to promoting semiconductor manufacturing across India.
