Assam floods disrupt rail connectivity in Upper Assam
The flood situation in Upper Assam worsened after incessant rainfall caused water levels in the Dikhow River to rise sharply. Floodwaters submerged the Simaluguri railway station yard and several stretches of railway tracks, making train operations unsafe.
According to Northeast Frontier Railway officials, train movement on the Simaluguri–Namtiali and Simaluguri–Selenghat sections has been suspended until further notice as a precautionary safety measure. Railway engineers will inspect the tracks thoroughly before services resume.
