A devotional music video titled Shyam Sundari Shyama has brought together faith, emotions and regional creativity as Tripura-based content creator Anirban Bhowmik presented his latest musical project ahead of Diwali. Released on November 3, the video pays tribute to Goddess Shyama while exploring human relationships, emotional struggles and the uncertainties of everyday life.

Bhowmik, who hails from Udaipur in Tripura’s Gomati district, conceptualised, scripted and directed the project. Unlike conventional devotional music presentations, the production attempts to connect spirituality with real-life experiences through an emotional narrative. The project has also highlighted the growing potential of independent artists and technicians from the Northeast.

Shyam Sundari Shyama Connects Devotion With Human Emotions

The central idea behind the music video goes beyond religious expression. It explores how faith can provide strength during difficult circumstances and help people deal with disappointments, unexpected changes and personal struggles.

Drawing inspiration from the spirit of Diwali, which celebrates the victory of light over darkness, Bhowmik has attempted to communicate a message of hope and perseverance. The presentation encourages viewers to maintain their faith even when life does not unfold according to their expectations.

According to Bhowmik, the intention was to create something emotionally meaningful rather than follow a predictable devotional storytelling format.

He explained that life does not always offer the outcomes people desire. Sometimes relationships change, circumstances become difficult and individuals must accept situations beyond their control. However, these experiences should not prevent people from moving forward.

The creator believes that faith in God can provide the inner strength needed to overcome setbacks and begin again.

Nearly One Year of Planning Behind the Production

The project represents a significant creative undertaking for Bhowmik and his team. Developing the concept, screenplay and overall presentation took nearly a year, while the production involved an investment of more than Rs 1 lakh.

The decision to undertake a larger production was influenced by the positive response to a Shyama Sangeet devotional presentation released during Diwali last year.

Encouraged by the audience’s appreciation, Bhowmik decided to experiment with a more ambitious project this year. He wanted to improve the storytelling, technical execution and overall production quality while retaining the devotional essence of the composition.

The creator also believes that independent content producers do not necessarily require the backing of large production houses to create meaningful work.

According to him, a strong creative vision, a committed team and dedication to execution can help smaller productions reach audiences and compete in an increasingly crowded digital environment.

Regional Artists Play Important Roles

One of the significant aspects of Shyam Sundari Shyama is the involvement of several independent artists and technicians from Tripura.

Kishan Das has provided the vocals and handled the musical composition, arrangement and direction. The lyrics have been written by Ranajit Chakraborty, while Tapas Dhar managed music production, mixing and mastering.

Adarsh Ray was responsible for cinematography, editing, colour grading and visual effects. Shriddhi Bandopadhyay and Sharbani Chakraborty (Bandopadhyay) contributed their voices to the concluding narration.

The music video features Anirban Bhowmik alongside Jeniva Das, Subhabrata Chakraborty, Anushka Roy, Rekha Dey Choudhury, Rajat Dey, Deep Goswami, Aaditri Chowdhury, Nabarun Chakraborty, Utpal Dey, Sagar Rakshit, Biswajit Das, Amlanjit Neogi, Bitu Majumder and Arunabha Dutta.

Laxmi Debnath of Laxmi’s Makeover handled makeup, while Amlanjit Neogi and Biswajit Das looked after production management. Sourav Roy of Sr Editz managed the graphics.

Bhowmik expressed gratitude to everyone involved, emphasising that the project was a collective achievement involving contributions from both the cast and the technical crew.

Imtiaz Ali’s Storytelling Influences the Creative Approach

Bhowmik also acknowledged filmmaker Imtiaz Ali as an important creative influence, particularly because of his approach to portraying relationships, emotions and life’s unpredictable experiences.

He admires the filmmaker’s ability to present realistic situations without always depending on conventional happy endings.

This influence is reflected in the narrative approach of Shyam Sundari Shyama, which attempts to present the complexities of human life rather than offer an entirely predictable storyline.

Bhowmik acknowledged that the ending might not satisfy viewers expecting a conventional emotional resolution. However, he wanted the presentation to reflect the reality that not every situation can be changed according to one’s wishes.

The underlying message remains that life continues despite disappointments, and faith can help people find the courage to face another day.

Encouraging Response Boosts Independent Creativity in Tripura

Bhowmik said the initial response to the music video within its first 24 hours of release was encouraging. The appreciation and views received during that period strengthened the team’s confidence and motivated the creators to continue exploring ambitious projects.

The release also reflects the opportunities available to regional artists through digital platforms. Independent creators from smaller towns can now present their work to audiences beyond geographical boundaries without necessarily depending on established entertainment companies.

For Tripura’s emerging creative community, such productions demonstrate the importance of collaboration, technical improvement and original storytelling.

Through this Diwali offering, Anirban Bhowmik has attempted to combine devotion with a relatable human message. With its focus on faith, resilience and acceptance, Shyam Sundari Shyama stands as an example of how independent regional creators can use music and storytelling to communicate ideas that extend beyond entertainment.
