The Assam government will disburse financial assistance under the Chief Minister’s Nijut Moina Scheme from October 12, providing financial support to students during the festive season. The payments will cover eligible students enrolled in secondary and higher education institutions across the state.
The assistance will be provided for a minimum period of 10 months, beginning in October. The scheme aims to encourage students to continue their education and reduce financial barriers to academic progress.
Over 2.48 Lakh Higher Education Students to Benefit
According to the state government, 2,48,263 beneficiaries under the Higher Education Department will receive financial assistance during the current academic year.
The monthly assistance varies according to the students’ level of education.
Undergraduate students will receive ₹1,250 per month, while postgraduate and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) students will receive ₹2,500 per month.
The payments will continue for at least 10 months, providing students with financial support throughout the academic year.
Class XI and XII Students to Receive ₹800 Monthly
The scheme also covers students enrolled in Classes XI and XII.
A total of 1,89,048 students at the secondary education level will benefit from the assistance, according to the state government.
Each eligible student will receive ₹800 per month beginning in October.
The financial support aims to help students continue their studies after matriculation and reduce the possibility of dropping out due to economic difficulties.
Scheme Aims to Reduce Educational Dropouts
The Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Aasoni is designed to encourage girls to pursue education beyond the secondary level.
The initiative seeks to improve enrolment in higher education and reduce dropout rates among girl students.
It also aims to address social challenges, including child marriage, by encouraging girls to remain in education.
The scheme provides financial incentives to eligible students enrolled in recognised educational institutions.
Financial Assistance During Festive Season
The October 12 disbursement is being presented as a festive-season benefit for students and their families.
The assistance is expected to help beneficiaries manage education-related expenses during the academic year.
The government has also emphasised the importance of continued enrolment and regular attendance under the scheme.
Assam Expands Student Support Initiatives
The Nijut Moina programme forms part of Assam’s broader efforts to strengthen access to education through financial assistance.
The state has also introduced the Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Babu Aasoni for eligible male students from economically weaker families.
Under the Nijut Babu scheme, 1,02,501 male students are expected to receive assistance. Undergraduate students will receive ₹1,000 monthly, while postgraduate students will receive ₹2,000.
Together, the initiatives extend financial support to students across different levels of higher education.
Payments to Begin on October 12
The Assam government is scheduled to release Nijut Moina assistance on October 12.
With more than 4.37 lakh beneficiaries across the secondary and higher education categories, the disbursement will provide financial support to students throughout the state.
The scheme continues to focus on educational access, enrolment and reducing financial obstacles that may interrupt students’ academic journeys.
