State government and locals offer support
The Manipur government has stepped in to support the grieving families. Officials confirmed that both victims were working as part of the cabin and ground crew. They died on duty when the aircraft crashed during landing in Ahmedabad.
Local leaders, accompanied by senior officials, visited the families to provide comfort and financial assurance. Many neighbours also gathered to share their condolences, offering food, prayer services, and emotional support.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister’s office announced that arrangements for funeral rites and state assistance are already underway.
Crash sparks demand for aviation reform
The Air India flight, which was travelling from Dubai, crashed after a suspected technical malfunction. Flames engulfed the aircraft just before landing, making escape nearly impossible for many on board.
Aviation authorities have begun an investigation to uncover the exact cause. Meanwhile, political leaders from across India—including several from the Northeast—have called for immediate safety reforms.
Biren Singh, while mourning, urged the central government to review aircraft maintenance protocols and training procedures. “We owe it to our people to ensure safe skies,” he said.
Northeast leaders unite in grief and demand
Several Northeast leaders joined Singh in demanding action. They highlighted the vital roles that Northeastern youth play in national sectors such as aviation, defence, and public safety. Their voices echoed the shared sentiment that stronger regulations must prevent future tragedies.
Many social organisations have also started fundraising efforts to help the bereaved families. Some student unions have asked the central government to posthumously honour the victims.
This united response reflects how deeply the crash has impacted the region, particularly as the victims were young professionals with promising careers.
As Biren Singh mourns Air India crash victims from Manipur, the state stands in collective grief. The crash not only claimed lives but also exposed the emotional and systemic toll such tragedies bring. Nevertheless, Manipur’s resolve to honour its sons and push for change remains strong.
