Sony Pictures Entertainment India has announced that the highly anticipated movie “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” will make its debut in Indian theaters on June 1, a day ahead of its scheduled release in the United States. Serving as a sequel to the 2018 blockbuster “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” this animated feature will be released in India in a total of 10 languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, and Bengali.

Shony Panjikaran, the General Manager and Head of Sony Pictures Releasing International (SPRI) India, expressed his excitement over the overwhelming interest and anticipation among Indian fans for the movie. In response to this unprecedented demand, the decision was made to release the film a day earlier to cater to the Indian market’s enthusiasm. Furthermore, the film will be available in multiple languages, allowing a wider audience to enjoy the experience.

For the Hindi and Punjabi dubbed versions of the film, Indian cricketer Shubman Gill has lent his voice to the character of Indian Spider-Man, known as Pavitr Prabhakar. This casting choice adds a unique local touch to the film and is expected to resonate with Indian audiences.

“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” takes place over a year after the events of its predecessor. The story follows Miles Morales, voiced by Shameik Moore, who is approached by his love interest Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) to embark on a mission to save every universe of Spider-People from the villainous Spot, who poses a significant threat to all dimensions. In his journey, Miles encounters the Spider Society, a team of Spider-People dedicated to safeguarding the existence of the Multiverse. However, as the heroes disagree on how to handle the new threat, Miles finds himself at odds with the other Spiders and must venture out alone to protect his loved ones.

The movie boasts an impressive English voice cast, including Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Jake Johnson, Jason Schwartzman, Issa Rae, Karan Soni, Daniel Kaluuya, and Oscar Isaac. Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson, with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and David Callaham as the writers, “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” promises to be an exhilarating and visually stunning adventure.

With its earlier release date and multilingual approach, the film aims to cater to the immense anticipation and demand from Indian fans. As the Spider-Man franchise continues to captivate audiences worldwide, this new installment holds the promise of delivering another thrilling and imaginative chapter in the Spider-Verse saga.
