Arunachal Youth Hospitality Training has received a major boost as the Arunachal Pradesh Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (SDE) has partnered with the Honda India Foundation to equip young people with industry-ready hospitality skills. The initiative aims to improve employment opportunities for the state’s youth through structured training, nationally recognized certification, and placement support in leading hotels across India. The collaboration is expected to strengthen the state’s skill development ecosystem while creating sustainable career opportunities in the growing hospitality sector.
SDE Department and Honda India Foundation Join Hands
The Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (SDE), Government of Arunachal Pradesh, has entered into a three-year collaboration with Honda India Foundation under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The project is being implemented in partnership with the Visan Foundation, which will deliver professional hospitality training to selected candidates across the state.
Under the agreement, eligible youth from Arunachal Pradesh will receive free skill training in various hospitality trades, helping them prepare for careers in hotels, resorts, restaurants, and other tourism-related businesses. The initiative aligns with the state’s vision of enhancing employability through industry-focused vocational education.
How the Arunachal Youth Hospitality Training Programme Works
The Arunachal Youth Hospitality Training programme is designed to provide practical and classroom-based instruction. Participants will be trained in areas such as:
- Food and Beverage Services
- Customer service and guest handling
- Housekeeping operations
- Grooming and workplace etiquette
- Communication and soft skills
- Interview preparation and career readiness
On successful completion, trainees will receive certification from the Tourism and Hospitality Sector Skill Council (THSC), making them eligible for employment across India’s hospitality industry. The programme also includes placement assistance with reputed hotel chains.
Focus on Employment and Career Opportunities
One of the key highlights of the initiative is its strong emphasis on employment. According to the SDE Department, earlier batches of hospitality training have already delivered encouraging outcomes. During a previous programme conducted in Itanagar, 25 out of 30 trained candidates secured jobs after completing the course, demonstrating the effectiveness of industry-linked skill development.
The department also provides financial support to trainees during the training period. Selected participants receive a daily stipend to cover food and lodging expenses. Additional financial assistance is offered during the initial phase of employment to ease the transition into the workforce.
Expanding Opportunities Across Arunachal Pradesh
The hospitality training programme is being rolled out in multiple districts to ensure wider participation. Following training programmes in Itanagar, the initiative has expanded to Diyun in Changlang district, where another batch of candidates has begun professional hospitality training.
Officials have stated that the programme will continue reaching more districts, enabling rural and underserved youth to access quality vocational education and employment opportunities without financial barriers.
Honda India Foundation’s Wider Skill Development Mission
The partnership forms part of Honda India Foundation’s flagship Project Buniyaad – Atmanirbharta ka Aadhar, which focuses on skilling unemployed youth from the North-East and Jammu & Kashmir. Since its launch, the initiative has expanded across several northeastern states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Sikkim, and Jammu & Kashmir.
The programme aims to provide industry-relevant hospitality training with placement opportunities in leading hotel brands across India and even overseas. Honda India Foundation says the project promotes self-reliance while supporting the national Skill India Mission and Atmanirbhar Bharat objectives.

Why Hospitality Skills Matter for Arunachal Youth
The hospitality sector continues to witness steady growth, driven by tourism, business travel, and expanding hotel infrastructure across India. Arunachal Pradesh, known for its rich natural beauty and tourism potential, requires a skilled workforce capable of meeting international service standards.
The Arunachal Youth Hospitality Training initiative addresses this need by preparing local youth with practical skills that match industry requirements. Besides improving individual livelihoods, the programme can contribute to the state’s tourism economy by creating a pool of trained professionals.
With certification, placement assistance, and industry exposure, participants are expected to secure long-term employment while reducing migration caused by limited local job opportunities.
A Significant Step Towards Skilled Employment
The partnership between the Arunachal Pradesh SDE Department and Honda India Foundation represents a significant investment in the state’s human resource development. By combining government support with corporate social responsibility initiatives, the programme creates a sustainable pathway for young people seeking careers in hospitality.
As more districts come under the initiative and additional batches are trained, the collaboration is expected to strengthen Arunachal Pradesh’s skilled workforce, improve employment prospects, and contribute to inclusive economic development across the state.
