Orient Green Power Company Limited has commissioned a 17.6 MW AC solar power project in Tamil Nadu. The project became operational during the late evening of September 22, 2026.
The company disclosed the development through a regulatory filing on September 23. Its subsidiary, Delta Renewable Energy Private Limited, developed the project.
The new facility has an installed capacity of 17.60 MW AC, equivalent to 24.64 MW DC. It is located in Vandavasi and Chetpet taluks of Tamil Nadu’s Thiruvannamalai district.
The commissioning marks an important step in Orient Green Power’s expansion into solar energy.
Project Developed Through EPC Contract
Delta Renewable Energy developed the project through an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) arrangement.
The company had entered into the EPC contract with Remon Solutions Private Limited in December 2025. The contract covered the development of the 17.6 MW AC solar project in Thiruvannamalai district.
The project was planned across one or more locations in Vandavasi and Chetpet taluks.
The completion of the plant follows several months of construction and development work. The company had earlier set September 30, 2026, as the revised target for commercial production, subject to required approvals. The project was commissioned ahead of that revised date.
Total Solar Capacity Rises to 24.6 MW
The latest project significantly increases Orient Green Power’s operational solar portfolio.
Before this project, the company had commissioned a 7 MW AC solar plant in Tamil Nadu in December 2025. That facility has a DC capacity of 9.8 MW.
With the commissioning of the new project, Orient Green Power’s aggregate installed solar capacity has reached 24.6 MW AC, or 34.44 MW DC.
The company has therefore completed the solar expansion objective linked to its 2024 Rights Issue.
Solar Expansion Linked to 2024 Rights Issue
Orient Green Power had outlined solar expansion as one of the objectives of its 2024 Rights Issue.
The company raised funds through the rights issue to support its growth plans. It subsequently commissioned its first 7 MW solar project in December 2025.
The company then moved ahead with the additional 17.6 MW project.
The latest commissioning completes the specific solar expansion commitment associated with the rights issue. The company had earlier said that developing 25 MW of AC solar capacity was one of its objectives. Following the 7 MW project and the 17.6 MW project, the combined capacity stands at 24.6 MW AC.
Strengthening Renewable Energy Portfolio
Orient Green Power has traditionally maintained a significant presence in renewable power generation, particularly through wind energy.
The company has been expanding its portfolio to include solar power as part of its broader renewable energy strategy.
Its first solar plant became operational in December 2025. The addition of another 17.6 MW now gives solar power a larger role in the company’s generation portfolio.
