Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] Tripura State Secretary Jitendra Chaudhury has launched a strong attack on the state government, alleging that a “reign of goons” is prevailing across Tripura and claiming that democracy in the state has been “throttled.” The senior opposition leader made the remarks while addressing party workers and supporters, expressing concern over the prevailing political atmosphere and the functioning of democratic institutions.
Chaudhury alleged that incidents of intimidation, political violence, and restrictions on democratic activities have created an environment where opposition parties face increasing challenges in carrying out their political programmes.
