Upper Lampi vehicle fire under investigation
The incident occurred on Tuesday night near the Upper Lampi Battalion Border Out Post in Boko. A private Maruti Alto belonging to Havildar Arbinda Roy of the 28th Battalion was found completely gutted after catching fire near the battalion camp.
According to officials, the vehicle had been parked outside the camp because the approach road was in poor condition. This prevented the vehicle from being taken inside the outpost. Investigators are now examining the circumstances surrounding the fire, including when and where the car was parked and what happened in the area before the blaze broke out.
Police have not yet established whether the incident was accidental or involved arson. While the possibility of miscreants being responsible has not been ruled out, no suspect has been identified or detained so far.
No confirmed Shillong or Jorabat connection
