Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma has highlighted farmers’ welfare and governance reforms as the defining strengths of the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) government, stating that the administration remains committed to improving the lives of citizens through transparent governance, rural development, and people-centric policies.
Addressing a public gathering, the Chief Minister said the government’s focus has been on creating a responsive administration while ensuring that farmers, who form the backbone of Mizoram’s economy, receive greater support and opportunities. He emphasised that sustainable development can only be achieved through efficient governance and the empowerment of rural communities.
Lalduhoma said the ZPM government has prioritised reforms that strengthen public institutions and improve service delivery while placing agriculture and farmers’ welfare at the centre of its development agenda.
Agriculture Remains a Key Development Priority
The Chief Minister reaffirmed that agriculture continues to play a vital role in Mizoram’s economy and remains one of the government’s top priorities. He said the administration has introduced several initiatives aimed at improving farmers’ livelihoods, increasing agricultural productivity, and promoting sustainable farming practices.
According to Lalduhoma, the government is working to provide farmers with better infrastructure, improved market access, and technical assistance so that they can enhance both production and income.
He stressed that empowering farmers is essential not only for rural prosperity but also for strengthening the state’s overall economic growth and ensuring long-term food security.
Governance Reforms Focused on Transparency and Accountability
Highlighting the government’s administrative agenda, Lalduhoma said the ZPM administration has undertaken governance reforms designed to improve transparency, efficiency, and accountability in public administration.
He noted that good governance is fundamental to ensuring that government schemes and welfare programmes reach intended beneficiaries without unnecessary delays or bureaucratic hurdles.
The Chief Minister said efforts are being made to modernise administrative processes, simplify public services, and strengthen institutional mechanisms that promote greater accountability within government departments.
These reforms, he added, are aimed at building public confidence in governance while ensuring that resources are utilised effectively for development.
People-Centric Policies at the Core of Governance
Lalduhoma said the ZPM government believes that development should be driven by the needs and aspirations of ordinary citizens. He emphasised that policies are being formulated with a strong focus on improving the quality of life for people across both urban and rural areas.
The government, he said, has consistently encouraged public participation in governance and remains committed to addressing local concerns through regular engagement with communities.
By placing citizens at the centre of decision-making, the administration aims to ensure that development initiatives are inclusive, equitable, and responsive to changing needs.
Strengthening Rural Economy Through Farmers’ Empowerment
The Chief Minister observed that improving the economic condition of farmers has a direct impact on rural development. Agriculture supports a significant section of Mizoram’s population, making investments in the sector essential for reducing poverty and creating sustainable livelihoods.
He said the government is encouraging modern farming techniques, value addition, and improved agricultural practices that can increase productivity while protecting natural resources.
Support for farmers, according to Lalduhoma, is not limited to financial assistance but also includes efforts to improve access to technology, training, and better marketing opportunities.
The administration believes that a stronger agricultural sector will contribute significantly to balanced economic growth across the state.
Commitment to Inclusive and Sustainable Development
Lalduhoma reiterated that the ZPM government’s vision extends beyond short-term welfare measures and focuses on achieving sustainable, long-term development. He said every policy is designed to promote inclusive growth while ensuring that development benefits reach all sections of society.
The government is working across multiple sectors, including agriculture, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and public administration, to build a stronger foundation for Mizoram’s future.
The Chief Minister stated that sustainable development requires responsible governance, efficient implementation of programmes, and continuous collaboration between the government and citizens.
Focus on Building Public Trust
The Chief Minister emphasised that public trust remains one of the most valuable assets of any government. He said the ZPM administration is committed to maintaining transparency in decision-making and ensuring that governance remains accountable to the people.
According to Lalduhoma, citizens should be able to access government services efficiently and have confidence that public resources are being utilised honestly and effectively.
He added that governance reforms are intended not only to improve administrative performance but also to strengthen democratic institutions and encourage greater public participation in development.
Vision for Mizoram’s Future
Lalduhoma said the ZPM government’s long-term vision is to build a prosperous, self-reliant, and inclusive Mizoram where economic development is supported by efficient governance and strong public institutions.
He stressed that agriculture will continue to receive significant attention, as improving farmers’ livelihoods remains central to the state’s development strategy. Alongside governance reforms, investments in rural development, infrastructure, and public services are expected to create new opportunities for growth.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the government’s continued emphasis on farmers’ welfare and administrative reforms would help accelerate Mizoram’s development while improving the quality of life for its people.
Government Reaffirms Development-Centred Agenda
The Chief Minister’s remarks underscore the ZPM government’s effort to project itself as an administration focused on both good governance and grassroots development. By identifying farmers’ welfare and governance reforms as its greatest strengths, the government has reiterated its commitment to transparent administration, rural empowerment, and sustainable progress.
As Mizoram continues its development journey, the state government says it will remain focused on implementing policies that improve public services, strengthen agriculture, and promote inclusive economic growth. Through continued reforms and support for farming communities, the administration aims to create a more resilient economy while ensuring that development reaches every section of society.
