Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has described the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) strong performance in the Village Committee elections as a reflection of the alliance’s broader vision for the state. According to Saha, the election results offer a glimpse of the proposed “New Tripura”, built on development, unity and the participation of people from different communities.
Speaking about the results, Saha said the NDA had expected a strong performance in the Village Committee polls. He noted that the outcome was broadly in line with what the alliance had anticipated before the elections. The results have consequently provided a political boost to the ruling alliance as it continues to strengthen its presence at the grassroots level.
CM Manik Saha Emphasises Inclusive ‘New Tripura’
The Chief Minister placed social inclusion at the centre of his vision for Tripura. He said the objective is to build a “New Tripura” by taking all sections of society together rather than focusing on any particular community.
Saha specifically mentioned indigenous communities, general communities, Manipuris and minorities as important parts of this vision. He said the development of the state must involve everyone and stressed the importance of unity among different sections of society. Northeast Herald
The Chief Minister also linked the vision to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s broader approach towards Tripura. According to Saha, the Village Committee election results indicate that this vision could gradually become a reality.
Village Committee Polls Hold Political Significance
The Village Committee elections were held across areas under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). The polls were significant because they provided an important grassroots-level test of the political strength of different parties and alliances in the state’s tribal areas.
The elections were also closely watched ahead of the next electoral cycle. For the NDA, its performance provides an opportunity to consolidate its political position and strengthen its organisational presence among voters at the local level.
Saha’s comments suggest that the ruling alliance views the results not simply as an electoral success but also as an indication of public support for its development-oriented political agenda.
Saha Takes Aim at Congress and CPI(M)
While speaking about the election outcome, Saha also criticised the opposition parties, particularly Congress and the CPI(M). He claimed that opposition leaders were aware of their current political position and suggested that they were struggling to maintain their relevance in the state.
His remarks underline the political importance attached to the Village Committee results, with the ruling alliance presenting the outcome as evidence of its growing strength while challenging the opposition to regain political ground.
BJP Appeals for Responsible Celebrations
Following the NDA’s performance, BJP Tripura president Abhishek Debroy appealed to party workers to celebrate the victory responsibly. He urged cadres not to cause distress to anyone and called for an inclusive approach towards all sections of society.
The appeal comes amid the post-election political atmosphere in the state, where maintaining peace and harmony remains important. BJP leaders have stressed that the victory should be followed by constructive engagement with people rather than confrontation.
A Political Boost for the NDA
The NDA victory in Tripura has given the ruling alliance renewed political momentum, particularly at the grassroots level. For Chief Minister Manik Saha, the results represent more than an electoral achievement. They are being presented as an indication of a future in which development and social unity remain central to Tripura’s political direction.
By describing the results as a glimpse of “New Tripura”, Saha has sought to connect the election outcome with his government’s larger vision of inclusive development. The coming years will determine how effectively this political message translates into governance and development across the state.
